Building HVAC Controls
The FMS Engineering Controls staff is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Building Automation System (BAS). The BAS system is an integral part in RIT’s mechanical systems within and between the Campus Buildings. The Control Technicians work with our HVAC/R technicians in a continuous process of monitoring the BAS for proper system operation, improvements and replacement.
This involves many thousands of control devices and sensory equipment to maintain the systems reliability and operating efficiency. The Control Technicians install and modify our control systems to meet the changing needs of the RIT community, perform upgrades and maintenance along with responding to comfort related requests from staff and students.
If you experience an issue with the control of your heating, cooling or ventilation for your area, please report it to the FMS Operations Center at 475-6771. An HVAC/R Technician will be assigned to investigate the problem. Requests for service can also be submitted on-line at http://facilities.rit.edu or sent via e-mail to fms@rit.edu. After 5 pm and on weekends, all services requests should be directed to Campus Safety at 475-2853.
For all other Control System questions or concerns please contact Richard D. Stein, HVAC System Engineering Support Manager, at 475-4351 or email rdsfms@rit.edu
